Kawasaki news

Looks like kawasaki has pulled out of motogp for 09. Kinda a bummer because John Hopkins, who is kawi's team rider with family roots in El Cajon/london had a few races finishing on the podium the last 2 years. Best of luck to John in finding a new ride.

Speaking of kawi's, I know a lot of people who are very very impressed with the new ninja 250s. According to a few sd test bikers, the 09 ninja 250's are back in stock at local dealers. Fantastic bike for $3999!

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holidays. Just wanted to thank every single person who helped make the test bike a sucess this year.

If you've taken a look around the site, you can see that I'm a big fan of minimalist bikes. Personally if it's not needed to make the bike go, I generally don't want it on my personal bikes. Along those lines are deus motorcycles out of Australia. Just like the first dmv test bike street tracker build....except good :D take a look at these beauts: http://www.deus.com.au/#/bikes/

Skillspack Winter Special!

This happens every year. Everything slows down in Jan/feb, I've got tons of appts at the dmv, and only a few folks call. Then March comes, I get a billion calls per day wondering if they can get their motorcycle license TOMMOROW and then get bummed when the dmv has nothing for 3 months....

Point being, now is the perfect time to get riding!
1) Plenty of available times for skillspack
2) No dmv back up, get your license the following thursday
3) THIS IS SAN DIEGO WE HAVE YEAR ROUND RIDING! In fact winter riding is better because you can wear full gear without sweating your brains off.

So since everyone is feeling broke, I figured it's time to run the first ever sd test bike skillspack special. Just $175 smackers. To book just call me (Brian) at 619-224-6686 and we'll get you riding. Happy Holidays!

More moto tech crossover

First there was disk brakes, and full travel suspension. And now some more cool moto tech has crossed over to bicycles, check out the cool belt drive on this trek. I know little about bikes, but looks to be fixy style, but single speed with a belt drive. advantages are less weight and totally silent riding. If I had the money to blow, sure I'd pick one up.

Gear Alert

I absolutely love my new bmw city pants. Since I work on a bike, I needed something with abrasion protection, knee and hip armor, and was comfortable enough to walk around and hang out in. It took me forever but I finally found the right combo in bmw city pants. I can't believe I spent so many years doing my casual riding in a pair of jeans. The sizing on them is a bit weird, so I recomend going by sd bmw motorcycles and trying em on rather than buying them off the net.

here's a pic of me all geared up, new trousers and all:

Ducati Test ride

Special thanks to customer Mark for letting me flog....errrr....ride his yellow 92 ducati m900 monster. It's been a few years and I forgot what a fantastic bike those are. Despite being waaaaayyyy more comfortable than a race replica, I still had issues with my boys going into the tank. And like all sportbikes it has a tendency to want to stand up when things start getting bumpy in the corner. But man that sound! The torque is right were you want it down low, and it feels like waaaayyyy more than 80hp. After owning liter bikes I was really surprised, the twin felt like so much more. Again thanks for the ride!

here's a similarly set up scoot:

Welcome

Welcome to the sdtestbike.com blog. Really the main purpose for this, is that I often come across really cool motorcycle stuff that I'd love to share with everyone, but I'm just way too busy/lazy to update my site all the time. Hence this spot. Moslty I'll just post up impressive riding videos, cool bike alerts, personal gear reviews and stuff. IE all things related to sdtestbike.com I'm still learning this, in theory there's a pic of the new bike attached....we'll see...
